This is how I make bags for the PC.

Supplies:
Vacuum bag sealer
Vacuum bags (Oven bags can be used too)
Tyvek (get at the Post office)
Blue RVT Sealant (must be blue, Red will not hold up.)
Clear packing Tape
Scissors
Measuring tape

Making the Bags

Start by cutting the vacuum bag to the size you want it to be.(Mine is 11 inches wide 13 inches long) it will hold about 2 ½ to3 Quarts and still have room.

Cut a piece of Tyvek to 2 ¼ insq

Cut a hole in the Bag 1 insq in the center 2/3rd of the way up.

Put a bead of RVT around the outside of the hole cut in the bag.

Place the Tyvek pieces over the hole. The RVT will seal around the hole and hold the tyvek in place

With the clear Tape a half inch over lap around the outside of the tyvek . This is not extra , the tape holds the tyvek in place very good and the tape will hold up in the

Put a drop of RVT in the bottom ½ of the bag for a SHIP, smear it around in to a spot (red RVT seems to fall off when used for this application)

Once the RVT dries, fill the bag with your Favorite Grain, Seal it up and PC at 15 lb. for 90 min..

Note: Because of the bags I use, I must lay my bags flat in the PC. If I stand them up or roll them up, the insides of the bags will seal together. I only use my bags once, because I have to lay them flat in the pc the bags are small in comparison. I do not see this as a problem when using a Oven bag, You should be able to use it more aslong as you have room at the top to seal it again.

You Should be able to use them as grow bags if you want, no reason to use the RVT then.

I love a good bag tek :D ! Even though i am a true bag grower, i still do my Spawn the old fashioned way. I use jars for the No Soak - No Simmer tek. I know how to do that tek using bags, but i just am stuck on using my jars...old habits I guess.
Thanks For your contribution to the community AL203 ;) .
Peace.

Great write up, and cool pics.

I went to Walmart today planning to get the supplies for this tek, and found that they have store and zip food saver bags $8 and change....call me cheap, but I didn't splurge for the bag sealer, $49 and change. I did make 12 of the 18 bags using your tek all except for the taping of the tyvek...I just used rtv and stuck the tyvek over the hole, only because I, forgot about the list of supplies that was in my pocket. Do you think that the rtv tyvek patch will hold up in the pc without the tape? I plan to let the rtv dry for 24 hrs.

yes, you can just use RVT and no tape, but you must make sure it is secure. When I first started making them i used just RVT and it worked great, but one time I had a bag the RVT and tyvek filter came off...the patch came off that one time when using Blue RVT and I had made 30 bags before with no problems using blue RVT, But the Red RVT will always come off..it does not stand up to the PC(do not use RED RVT). because I had this one bag with BLUE RVT did not work, I started to tape also just as a precaution and it has never failed me..so yes , if you let the RVT sit for 24 hours it should be Ok,
