It grows solitary to gregariously in muddy clay soils in subtropical coffee plantations. Found in June and July in Mexico (puebla, Oaxaca, and Chiapas) and in February in Argentinia. Also reported from Brazil to Columbia. info from "Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World" by Paul Stamets
This is not one for the people with limited patients, it is a very slow growing species and takes it sweet time to reach full maturity.
Inc temps; 78-80
Grain colonized in about 4 weeks but was let to sit for about 6 (using an LC).
Once colonized a sandwhich technique (sub/spawn/sub) seems to work more efficiently than mixing it all up. Sub consisted of cactus soil (with wood screened out) mixed 50/50 with verm. Sub colonization times varies depending on thickness a typical smaller sized tray 2" sub depth may take about 2 weeks or more.
Fruiting temps 75
Cased with straight verm then wait, wait, wait and wait some more pins can take aproximately 4 weeks to appear and fruits will continue to grow for about 2 weeks until finally reaching maturity.
One really cool thing about this strain is its resistance to contams and its long life. There are reports of this strain being grown out for 9+ flushes!
